Alexander house hotel utopia spa12/3/2023 ![]() I had breakfast included in my rate but had I paid the £22 charge listed on the menu I wouldn’t have felt I had gotten value for money. Like everywhere else in the hotel the service was brilliant but my food was a tad bland and uninspiring. The selection was rather limited, especially the hot options. My other disappointment came at breakfast time. I had planned to spend the evening in the spa but left after an hour or so. The pool/jacuzzi area was pretty but lacked any sort of ambiance and it wasn’t a particularly relaxing atmosphere. I’m sure a male employee wouldn’t be allowed to walk around the female section. I also wasn’t comfortable with the female attendants continually walking around the male changing area. It was just like the locker room at my gym at home. I appreciated having separate steam/sauna in the changing rooms however these were incredibly small and didn’t feature any smell infusions or niche features. There was no fresh fruit or snacks offered which I find is normally standard in 5* spas. Firstly the charge just to access the wet facilities seems rather greedy considering the cost of the room for the night. I chose this hotel mainly due to the spa, which unfortunately was rather underwhelming. Their small touches and proactive, discreet service went a long way in helping me relax and indulge. I was warmly greeted by every staff member I came across and made to feel welcome and valued. ![]() The staff are by far what made my visit to Alexander House. My luxury room was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated, with a gorgeous marble bathroom and all of the amenities you could ever want. ![]() There is no denying that the building and grounds of this hotel are beautiful and it is certainly an escape from everyday life.
